Custom design and fabrication of seating devices for children living with severe disabilities. 1. Measure, fabricate and customize equipment for the positioning needs of children. Assess equipment and adjust as necessary. 2. Fabricate custom fitted seating systems for clients and perform modifications on mainstream consumer products, customization of commercial adaptive equipment and fabricate custom designed unique products to meet specific patient needs. 3. Consult with manufacturers of equipment regarding their design and production of new equipment. 4. Prepare and present manuals and workshops to parents, community therapists and technicians on the principles, maintenance and adjustment of seating systems. 5. Participate in research and development activities of the Rehabilitation Technology Section of the Therapy Department. 6. Provide information to clients on the maintenance and care of the equipment provided. 7. Provide mentoring to technical staff throughout BC.
